Educate · Entertain · Empower

AfricanIntellect.club

A third space for Africa and its people. Come as you are — you belong here.

We come together to learn, share joy, and build what we need, because we are more than enough for ourselves and each other.

What We Do

Three values guide everything we do.

Educate

Learn from each other

Cultural history, art, technology, and cooking, taught by our community for our community. Opening our eyes to what we can do for each other.

Entertain

Share joy

Coming together to share and create joy for each other: films, book readings, music, dance, and food.

Empower

Grow together

Material resources, spiritual guidance, and mental plans for the discovery and growth of each person and the whole community.

See what's coming up

Film screenings, discussions, workshops, and gatherings — all on our events calendar.

How We Do It

Two ways of looking at the same values: how the space feels, and what the work does.

The space

  • Welcoming. We are happy to see you. You belong here.
  • Third space. Not home, not work. A place to be yourself and grow yourself. There aren't enough of these, and they aren't within reach of everyone. We're changing that.
  • Collaborative. We work together toward a common vision with shared values.

The work

  • Enlightenment. Opening our eyes to what we can do for each other.
  • Accessibility. Making people, places, and activities within reach of all.
  • Sustainability. Providing what we need today and in the future, through our own actions and resources.

Who It's For

Centered on Black people and the African diaspora. Open to everyone who comes in good faith.

Come gather

You

Our events are 18 and up unless they say otherwise. Family-friendly events are always clearly labeled, so you know before you go.

Come build

The people doing the work

Teachers, artists, cooks, technologists, growers, and organizations who educate, entertain, and empower Africa and its peoples. Bring your class, your kitchen, or your art. Get in touch.

Where we're going

A permanent home

We're working toward owning a building and land for club activities, and toward being a platform — digital, financial, legal, and physical — that the whole community can use to educate, entertain, and empower Africa and its peoples around the world.

We move by direct action: we build what we need, together. We keep our words honest, clear, and simple. And we program against whatever divides us, to uplift and unite.
