Our Mission & Governance
What we do, how we carry it out through three programs, and who leads the work.
AfricanIntellect.club educates, entertains, and empowers the knowledge, culture, and power of Africa and its people, for the benefit of Africa and its people globally.
The organization exists to build knowledge, sustain community and culture, and provide practical support so that individuals and communities connected to Africa and the African diaspora can advance on their own terms. It pursues this mission through three programs, open to the general public without restriction based on race, ethnicity, national origin, or ability to pay.
The mission is carried out through three programs.
Teaching the history and present life of Africa and its people, and the practical skills — including technology and AI literacy — that equip the community to advance. Formats include teaching gatherings and lecture series, current-events discussion circles, skills instruction, and freely shared study materials.
Convening the community for culturally rooted assembly, celebration, and shared programming that sustain identity and connection — film and story gatherings, readings, music, dance, and heritage events, often paired with discussion connecting the gathering to history and culture.
Building and stewarding collective resources so the community and its members can pursue shared goals — mutual aid and support for community members in need, modest resource-sharing and microgrants for work that advances the mission, and capacity-building support for those doing the community's work.
AfricanIntellect.club is an Oregon nonprofit corporation — organized as a public benefit corporation under ORS Chapter 65 — governed by an equal, three-director board.

AfricanIntellect.club is an Oregon nonprofit public benefit corporation — Oregon Secretary of State Registry No. 261788096 (filed August 19, 2026), EIN 42-4582028 — and we are in the process of applying for federal tax-exempt recognition as a Section 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization. Our Form 1023 application to the IRS has not yet been filed.
Until the IRS grants that recognition, AfricanIntellect.club is not yet a recognized 501(c)(3) organization, and we are not able to represent that any gift to us is tax-deductible. We will update this page as our status changes.
